James Bebbington (Great Britain) remained very close to Csonka in yesterday’s semi-final but his moves in the final did not all go according to his wishes and he finished second with a points difference of over 220. Ján Špindler, from the Czech Republic, got the third place. In the women’s category, the surprise came from Ekaterina Kulkova, from Russia, who was propelled to the second position by her performance in the final. She was followed by 3 Czechs, the best of which, Lenka Borovičková, finished third. The climax of the day was the final run of the Slovak Kayak & Canoe Cross 2009, with over 60 competitors in the kayak category. The best Slovaks were Peter Csonka for the men and Eva Fillová for the women. The event came to a close with a show cross race opposing men and women, which ended in a beautiful gesture of sportsmanship: after competing passionately down the whole track, they rejoined right before the end and crossed the finishing line together, holding hands.
